The Signature Wedding Quilt
Hi All!
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I have been working on several more applique quilts....I do not post pictures of quilts until they have been picked up by their owners....the three (3) following quilts I quilted for Betty R. of Haymarket, Virginia.
I decided to put each quilt into their own post....
The first quilt up is The Signature Wedding Quilt. I absolutely love everything about this quilt, and it was fun to quilt. I used Kimono Silk, Misty Mountains, thread from Superior Threads on the top and Fil-Tec Magna-Glide Classic, Light Grey, pre-wound bobbins in the bobbin. I also used Harriet Hargrave's Private Label .004 Nylon by YLI for some of the stitching-in-the-ditch around the applique where it was adjacent to the black triangles. I felt that the Kimono Silk color would stand out too much. Yes, it added several stops and starts, but was worth the time.
The background fabric reminds me of parchment paper. I absolutely love the effect with the well wishes and signatures. I felt it really important to focus on the writings, and, so, decided to do cloud like quilting around them with a variety of fill designs in the background. The effect of the variety of fill designs was to add interest but also have the signatures stand out. I went back into the signature areas of some of those larger ones with some tack stitching. Yes, again, this added several stops and stops adding time to process, and, again, worth the end result.
Have a great day.....
Stay tuned for Churn Dash Checkers.....
